Some of my peers and friends when they introduce me to other people they will say: Mitch, the Guatemalan.
They couldn’t be more wrong on this claim. Yes, I am from Guatemala. Yes, I immigrated to the United States. But what they cannot get through their (on this subject) dull minds is that I only have ONE citizenship. That citizenship is my American citizenship. For only two year I had a Guatemalan citizenship and since I immigrated to the US, that no longer exists. In its place was my American one. I don’t refer them to their family’s country of origin or by (racial) slurs. Then they state: You can’t be president. While that may be true, statistically we both have about the same chance of becoming president – little to none. I am an American. Latter on I will ramble one on how I am Mayan, not Guatemalan. Once I have that up, the link will be seen here.
